What Causes Redness And Inflammation On The Lower Stomach?
My husband is 52 years old and is a flooring installer in florida. His lower stomache right above the belt buckel is inflammed and very red. Because he is always on his knees his belly hangs slightly over his pants at the waist. This area will dry up itch and peel and trhe process starts all over again. He has started to off set the buckel in case its rubbing but that hasnt helped. He tuckes his shirt in and that hasnt helped. Any ideas? I can attach a pic if that would help.
Hi. As per your case history your husband is having irritant dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid wearing ill-fitting tight jeans and belt as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine once daily for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroids taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
