What Causes Redness And Inflammation On The Shin And Rib Area?

Hi. I have a skin irritation that has developed just on my shins. Red, inflamed, looks like small burns. I ve used calamine lotion and it seems to be clearing up. Now I m noticing the same marks on my hairline and on my rib cage. Not as severe but it s concerning. I ve ruled out any change in detergent, soaps, shampoos, razors, lotions, etc. Nothing has changed in my diet or anything. Can you help?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be lichen urticatus.

Also called papular urticaria. It may be due to hypersensitivity to insect bites.

Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Oral steroid in tapering dose and antihistaminics may be taken. Apply mild steroid cream.

Thanks.
