What Causes Redness And Itching On The Scalp?

I have redness and itching on my scalp. I had it biopsied a few years ago and was given a name for it but cannot remember what it was called. It is a chronic condition and nothing will make it go away. Can you tell me what it might possibly be called and give me something that might help it to be less severe? it comes and goes in severity

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In my opinion, diagnosis might be psoriasis. It is a chronic condition. Please keep in touch with a dermatologist and visit him whenever symptoms aggravate and follow his treatment. Please do follow some general measures,
1. Avoid smoking
2. Avoid alcohol
3. Do proper exercise
4. Make skin moist by applying moisturizers or emollients, especially during winter
5. Frequent scalp wash with shampoo, ideally daily.

Get well soon. Take Care.

Regards,
Dr. P. Siva Subramanian.
