What Causes Redness In Fingers And Retention Of Fluids In Legs?

My daughter is a very active 4 year old. She had open heart surgery at age 2 for V. S. D. Before the surgery she was under weight, and now she s at 80 pounds. I ve had her on a strict diet for a month now and shes gained 7 pounds. Now today her fingers are red and puffy and her arms, legs are retaining fluids. What is wrong with her? Could it be her heart or kidneys?

Pediatrician 's  Response
hi! since your child has an operated vsd at the age of 2 it is likely that her heart has become weak. as a result her body is retaining more fluid to maintain good circulation. you should consult your cardiologist regarding this issue because she might need some new medicines to help cope with her fluids overload.
