What Causes Redness On The Scrotum And Itchiness In The Groin Area?

Last week I noticed redness all over my scrotum and an itch in my groin. My groin also split in places where the skin folds - like tiny paper cuts. These, of course, were a little painful. My partner recommended applying Canesten on my groin and under my scrotum as it sounded like a fungal infection/yeast infection. Since applying the cream over the last two days, my groin feels and looks fine, with no visible redness or cuts of any kind. That s great! However, out of fear of applying cream to my scrotum, that particular area remains red (inflamed?) Should I be applying Canesten to my scrotum to clear up the problem? Thanks.

My Impresssion-
Based on facts of your query,You seems to suffer from-
Jocks itch with redness in groin/ scrotal area.
It is caused from Tinea Cruris-a ringworm fungus infection/ or eczema marginatum / or dhobi itch/ or jock itch- of scrotal skin and groin area.
Remedy -
Clotrimoxazole- in canesten 1% oint has given the relief you got with your problem with 2 weeks treatment.
Private part sponging with dettol solution.

Hope this would help to plan treatment with your doctors.
