The top of the head of my penis has been red for the past few months. It varies throughout the day and it is hard to tell what upsets it. It has not spread, however the area of effect does get larger when inflamed and it is much smaller and less painful at other times of the day. I have been checked for STD s which came back negative. Do you have any ideas what it could be?
Take care of your hygiene, do not let urine and sweat accumulate, wash properly, it can be due to irritation due to condoms, lubricants, and friction with the pants. Wear loose fitting cotton pants. Underlying skin conditions like fungus infection, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, etc. can cause such symptoms.
Get clinically examined, get treated. Abstain from sex and sexual activity for a couple of days if sexually active. You can apply ointment clotrimazole on the affected area to control fungal infection. Applying Hydrocortisone will control itching and spread. Taking antihistamine at night will help to control allergic reaction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
