What Causes Red,warm And Hard Knot After Tetanus Shot?

I got a tetanus shot the day before yesterday. It has been red, warm and a hard knot. I took a Claritin last night, thinking that I might have been having an allergic reaction (I get really bad hives when I have an allergic reaction). The spot is still there today but is bigger than yesterday. It also started itching. Is this normal or am I having some sort of reaction?

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Tetanus toxoid I.M. injection can cause redness, swelling around the injections, and soreness or tenderness around the injection site. It will resolve in a few days.
CLARITIN tablet ( 10 mg micronized loratadine)an antihistamine will reduce itching.
