What Causes Retinal Detachment?
Hi, I have a retinal detachment question. I am 34, I have perfect blood pressure and the EKG results came out perfect. Never had any eye problems, except for a mild nearsightedness in my right eye, minus 1.75 since I was a child. Not a diabetic, no retinal detachment history in my family, no trauma...one day I woke up with limited vision in my right eye and long story short, I was diagnosed with retinal detachment and had scleral buckle surgery performed on my eye shortly after. The weekend before the first sign of having a problem, I partied for two nights in a row and did cocaine. Could that be the reason for the detachment? Are cocaine and marijuana dangerous for the eye? Thank you.

Retinal detachment is caused by injuries or by retinal degenerations or in high myopia.
Cocaine is not responsible for retinal detachment.
