What Causes Retraction Of Testicles Into Abdomen While Having Sex?
I am a 26 yo male, no known medical problems, but sometimes during sex my testicles move up inside my body and can be very uncomfortable, but not painful. I have to push them down again. It almost feels like muscles are pulling them up beyond my control. Is this naything to worry about, and can anything be done to help?
Hi. Thanks for your understanding the subject and you have very well put in the problem. Yes, the testes are suspended in the scrotum by spermatic cord that is covered by a special muscle called cremaster. This muscle is extension of the muscles of the lower abdomen and has a spiral action for retracting/pulling up the testis in many cases like exposure to cold, in fight and flight situation.
During sex there is severe activity of the lower abdominal muscles hence your strong cremaster pulls up the testis and due to spiral action rotates the testes to cause that typical discomfort that you are experiencing.
Do not worry. You can put in and shower in the area with warm water and it will get relaxed. Rarely partial release of the cremaster may be needed.
