I am a 50 year old female. At the place where my bra wire is located under the breast and against the rib cage I have previously experienced pain before and during my period. I am pre-menopausal (?) and have had only occasional periods. At present I am getting intermittent sharp pains in that area; and it hurts occasionally when I breathe. Ay ideas?
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you are having mostly musculoskeletal pain due to tight fleeting of your undergarment (bra). Since you are premenopausal woman, cardiac cause must be rule out first. In your age, cardio protective effect of estrogen is decreased. So women of these age are at increased risk for cardiac diseases. So get done ECG and 2d echo to rule out cardiac cause. If both are normal then no need to worry much. It is mostly musculoskeletal pain. So avoid to much tight bra. Wear comfortable size bra. Avoid strenuous exercise and weight lifting. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Avoid movements causing pain. Start painkiller and muscle relaxant. Apply warm water pad on affected site.
