What Causes Right-sided Knee Pain Radiating Towards Calf And Ankles Post Knee Arthroscopy?

Pain and weakness in legs more the right than the left. Had right knee scoped last May, followed by four months of physical therapy. Therapy increased flexibility but not strength. Pain is mostly behind the knee but radiates to the thigh, calf and ankle. Walking seems to aggravate the condition more than help it. The pain is not constant but comes and goes even while sleeping. Changes in the weather seem to make it much worse.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In your condition, I feel that the pain may not be in the knee joint or related to it but pain may be coming from back to leg called sciatica.

I suggest MEI Lower back. Start painkillers, muscle relaxants and physiotherapy in the meantime.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Gopal Goel,
Orthopedic Surgeon
