What Causes Ringing Sensation In The Ear With Pain?

Hi, I started experiencing this ringing in my ears about 1st of April and its constant. I had an ear ache for about 2 wks and went to Dr. He said no infection and cleaned my one ear. Then sent me to ENT and he barely looked at me and said it was my TMJ and I d just have to live with it. I then went to Jaw surgeon and am now going to get a splint and doing physical therapy. Can I expect that these things will take this away or should I see a neulogist as well?

Understanding your concern.

The problem you mention in query that is ringing sound in ear is known as ' TINNITUS ' .There can be many things associated with tinnitus and jaw problem can be one of those . It can occur due to :-

- Change in over all blood pressure or change in localize blood pressure due to some reason like compressing of artery .

- It can occur due to hearing loss of middle ear infection .

- Due to stress .

- Due to wisdom tooth problem .

- Nerve problem .

- Sinusitis .

- Idiopathic .

I would suggest you to to rule out all the possibilities before getting splint . You should consult neurologist , oral surgeon and ENT specialist again .

Sometimes simple extraction of wisdom tooth or reducing stress can solve the problem , even biological supplement like ginkgo biloba can resolve it .

For then do yoga and meditation and reduce stress level .
