What Causes Rippling Sensation In Lower Abdomen?

Earlier today I felt a continuous rippling sensation in my mid-lower abdomen. Later this afternoon I coughed and felt a very sharp snapping or popping sensation in my lower left abdomen. Since that happened, I ve been able to feel it sharpness in that area when I cough. I have bad digestive issues in the past, and I am on the Marena IUD and have been for the last two years. Any ideas?

Hi
Welcome to health care magic,
This continuous rippling sensations in left lower stomach could be due to irritable bowel syndrome or colitis but needs to be evaluated further.

You should go for blood investigations, ESR and abdominal ultrasound to arrive at a certain conclusion.

Meanwhile you can take antispasmodics, antacids and antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole) if there is infection.

You should see surgeon who will order some tests with symptommatic treatment.

You may need endoscopy to rule out any disease like IBD.

Regards,
