What Causes Rocking Of Head And Poor Vision With Nystagmus?
My 15 yr old daughter has rocked her head from side to side since she was about 3 mos old. No one seems to know why? She also has poor vision with nystagmus. Poor muscle tone & coordination. She had an MRI when she was 3-4 yrs. They did not find anything. She does well in school except for the occational teasing because of her head? Any thoughts?
As you say your daughter has poor muscle tone and co-ordination, she may have sensory processing disorder. Because of the poor vision and nystagmus she may have difficulty in orientation of herself in space. She may have a poor visual feedback of her position in space. so she will rock her head from side to side to get additional input from the vestibular system which sends the input to brain about one,s position in space. sensory integration therapy may be useful to her
