What Causes Rusty Color Vaginal Discharge Along With Sharp Pain?

Hello, my boyfriend and I had protected sex on Saturday. My period ended about a day before we engaged in intercourse. I noticed that today, being about five days later, that I am spotting a rusty colour of red. It is accompanied by sharp pain, which is consistent with sitting down or applying a similar form of pressure. Is this normal?

Hello,
I have gone through the query and understood your concern. This form of pain and associated spotting is definitely not normal. The possible causes in the current scenario are- an infection of the lower urinary tract or the genital tract subsequent to the intercourse, a cyst of the ovary which may have engorged and ruptured, polyps of the cervix or a calculus in the urinary tract. I would ask you to contact your health care provider for a thorough evaluation to plan further management. Anti-spasmodic medication helps to relieve the pain. Hope this helps.
