What Causes Scabbing And Pain On Pimple Spot?

i had a pimple that i popped. it healed, and started to scab over, but still hurt. i thought that meant there was still pus inside, so i popped it again. Then i put calamine lotion on it to dry it out. it is now scabbing over but hurts on contact. is this normal? usually my scabs dont hurt
