What Causes Scar To Turn Purple?

Hi. I hit my head about 4 months ago and had to get 20 stitches above my eyebrow. it was healing well, and then yesterday i was playing basketball and the ball tapped my scar. i didn't think anything of it. but now the top half of the scar is turning purple (just along the crease not around it). i didn't know if i should have a doctor look at it?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

It is definitely the result of bruising due to the trauma sustained from basketball hitting your head (basketball hitting head is quite a blow!!).

A bruise normally resolves by itself with 7-10 days. You could take an oral Vitamin C supplement once daily to hasten the resolution.

regards
