What Causes Seizure After Binge Drinking?
hello, my brother is 22 years old. he's healthy not on any medication. he had a seizure 1 day ago for the first time in his life he woke up in the ambulance vomiting. he did not lose control of his bowel and urine. CT and MRI was negative. ER put him on keppra 500mg BID .Past# the day before the seizure he was binge drinking. he had truma by car accident when he was 8 years old. whats his differential diagnosis ?

From my clinical experince I can say that your brother had either -
1. withdrawal of alcohol related seizure ( as both scan are normal, he had binge drinking a night back) OR
2. a de novo seizure, which is quite commonly seen in clinical practice ( when no reason is found).
He might get an EEG also to see of there is any seizure activity present. ( this should have been done prior to starting keepra as this might normalize the seizure waves).
The medicine is right and should be continued as adviced, daily without skipping.
