my son is very driven. Has two MA degrees. Works out and stays very busy. However, he is always anxious, has severe mood swings that mostly result in losing his temper. He says he is always tired, and attributed that to always being busy. He was just diagnosed with Narcolepsy. What??? I don t see the symptoms. How can a clinic diagnosis this with so little information other than I have always had a hard time concentrating and I m tired all the time.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder that causes overwhelming daytime drowsiness. Is your son actually suffering from it? Tiredness, anxiety, and timid characters could be due to depression and anxiety. These can be treated with drugs, counseling, and psychotherapy. Consult a psychologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards,
Dr. K. V. Anand
