I am a 28 yr old female. I am 5 7 and weigh 198lbs. I have always coughed a lot after playing sports and I have always had the need to clear my throat all the time. For as long as i can remember I ve always had a frog in my throat . My doctor said I likely have exercise induced asthma and put me on ventolin a couple years ago. It seems to help when I have a coughing spell (usually brought on by exercise, laughing, or sometimes just out of the blue) but I still have to clear my throat all the time and I m always bringing up phlegm. Is this part of the asthma or could it be something else?
Yes it feels like you have exercise induced asthma and the best way to diagnose it or confirm is to do a spirometry post exercise and see a change or drop in your lung volumes. You need to take asthalin or ventolin not after exercise however the best is to take it before you start playing any kind of sports. See a good pulmonologist and discuss your problems in detail.
