What Causes Severe Cough Along With Heaviness In Chest?
My Grand mother who is 83 years had very bad cough , then she was feeling heavy in her chest so was admitted saying she has mucus in chest congesting it. She will be discharged tomorrow but the doctor said she should take care because she has a weak heart , it is only functioning 40%. What does this mean? We live away from her, should we take this as a serious warning and threat to life? Is there any treatment?
Hello Your grand mother is suffering with cough and congestion . Her heart is working 40 % ( usually 55 -70 % ) , but at this age this is not a cause of concern( but before we should know , what is the condition of heart and is there any disease ?). When such patient visit my clinic I advise them to take montelukast+bambuterol for cough and congestion . Since this is a prescription drug , so you should consult a physician and get his opinion. 2nd point is congestive obstructive pulmonary disease ( copd ) , so this may be the reason of such symptoms , so consult another physician or if possible a pulmonologist . Since your grand mother is far away so you must consult a pulomonologist take his opinion(2nd).
