What Causes Severe Cramps In The Thigh?

Hello, occasionally I have leg and feet cramps; however, yesterday I had a severe cramp in inner top side of my thigh (about 6 inches from my groin). It was very painful, to where I could not put weight on my leg. It finally subsided; but, I still feel a slight twinge there like to might happen again. I ve had this a couple times before. I was concerned that I might need to see a vein specialists. Your thoughts. Thank you.

Hi,

Thigh cramps are less common than leg and feet cramps. Check for swelling of the limb colour change of the affected area and dilated veins.

If you haven't injured yourself then strains and sprains can be ruled out. If this recurs you will need a Doppler ultrasound examination of the lower limbs to check for clots on the veins or block in the arteries.

Meanwhile, the area warm, do stretching exercises of the knee and ankle, take supplements of Magnesium and Vitamin E.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
