What Causes Severe Fatigue And Depression While On Effexor?

I started taking effexor about 6weeks ago. I felt better for about 10. Less fatigue and less anxious. This week I was increased from 25mg 2times a day to 3 times. Since that initial up I have felt worse and worse, tired and depressed. I believe I have suffered depression most of my life. Effexor is the first that hasn’t caused horrible side effects like nausea or actually passing out. I am 72 and in good health.

Hello
Welcome to Ask a Doctor Service
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
For functional disorders it is better to try to come out the stress and depression without the medication and you can do this, try to be positive practical, increase your self confidence, try some exercise too, if these fails then and then you can see the psychiatrist, once the treatment started then it can only be adjusted and change by doctor only and you can not do that, inform the doctor for symptom that you have, but try to come out of the depression without medication
Hope I have answered your query, let me know for further assistance.
