Dear Bobby,
I don't know with which reference your doctor is telling such low life expectancy. Most of the ET patients have near normal lifespan. Only those who have thrombosis or transformation of ET to acute leukemia have reduced survival.
This is the reference:

Please continue your daily physical activities without any restriction. I feel your fatigue is more psychological. If your hemoglobin level is more than 10gm/dL, then there is no need to worry about fatigue. Please get your blood tested for hemoglobin level.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
With regards,
Dr. Girish Kamat
