What Causes Severe Hand Pain While Urinating?

Good day. My almost 80 year-old mum gets severe pain in her hands when urinating. She was treated for cystitis about 2 months ago. We suspect the infection has returned ….. urine specimen with lab … but, why would she feel pain in her hands? Historically, she has a damaged kidney from billhazia (tropical parasite) done in her childhood, but is generally quite healthy except for a bit of angina (takes angiset & atenolol). She also takes eltroxin and folic acid. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
After going through the clinical history and present complaints, I am of the opinion that the hand complaint could be probably due to
1. Arthritis of hand
2. Neuropathic pain.

Pain specifically related to during urination can be attributed to position. An X-ray done can confirm or rule out the diagnosis.
For neuropathic pain, she needs to take vitamin B12 therapy.
Further opinion possible after looking at urinary lab reports.
Any further queries, happy to help again
