What Causes Severe Headache Post An Accident?

My son had a fall 2 weeks ago and hit his head on the door handle. a week later he developed a severe headache and we then rushed him to a hospital and they advised that we should only bring him back in case of a seizure of vomiting? The headache is still persisting after all this time, what do I do? do I take him back to the hospital or find a different doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Had he any episode of loss of consciousness, vomiting or ENT bleed? If it is so then he requires urgent CT scan head to rule out any internal traumatic brain injury.Headache after head injury can be due to skull bone fracture, any scalp collection or underlying intracranial, extrdural or subdural bleed or hemorrhagic contusions. If headache persists you should go for NCCT Head.Meanwhile take analgesics like Diclofenac or Tramadol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
