What Causes Severe Headaches After Suffering From A Subdural Hematoma?

My daughter had a subdural hematoma (domestic assault) in July. She has headaches now and again, but the last two days they ve been so bad she isn t sleeping much. She doesn t want to go to urgent care, so we are just wondering if it can be normal to have more severe headaches after such an injury?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Headache is quite common after intracranial bleed like subdural hematoma. It is because of compression of blood over the brain and impingement of its coverings.
She can take analgesics like Ramadol or Gabapentin.
If pain is very much severe, it is better to take a repeat CT scan to check whether the bleed has expanded or not.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
