What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Labia And Clitoral Area?
My clitoral area and labia are very itchy lately. I thought it would be the start of a used infection, so I purchased and used a one day Monistat suppository treatment. And I have also been using the Monistat cream on the clitoris and labia. My symptoms have not changed. I am 52. I am in good healthy shape. Go to the gym five days a week, and I am sexually active maybe once a week. I have no discharge.
The possible causes of your symptom are- an infection of the vagina, dryness of the vagina considering your age, usage of tight synthetic undergarments, urinary infections and high blood glucose levels.
In the current scenario, you need a clinical exam, a swab of the vagina for culture and sensitivity and plan further management.
Please avoid tight undergarments, use loose-fitting cotton ones instead. For dryness, you may need hormone supplements and topical creams.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
