What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Upper Arms, Back And Legs?

My 15 year old daughter has been experiencing extreme itchy skin on her upper arms (above the elbow only), entire back, and legs for the past 10 days or so. We have traveled out of town for the weekend, however it was happening before then. Nothing else we can think of changed.

Hello,

As per your case history of severe itching, my treatment advice is:

1. Do not squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on the affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, and oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
