What Causes Severe Itchiness On The Scalp After Taking Oxycodone 5mg?

I am only taking Oxycodone 5 mg 3 times per day and have this horrible itching and rash on my scalp and now all over my back! It s driving me crazy- it s very similar to poison ivy I had growing up in New England area- the more I scratch the more I itch...can you advise me please? I recently had a back injury and was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy with advanced degenerative bone disease and am in constant pain without the pain meds. ( Ihave tried others but my liver and intestines aren t tolerant)

I appreciate your concern for the severe itching on the scalp.

Severe itching can be a side effect caused by Oxycodone.
Consult your treating doctor for either use of alternate drugs like Amitryptiline or Gabapentine which are effective in painful conditions like pinched nerve or radiculopathy. Or your doctor may prescribe antihistamine like Cetrizine along with Oxycodone to prevent the severe itching.
