What Causes Severe Itching And Redness At The Site Of A Fish Sting?
I was stung a week ago by a weever fish , i must have stepped on it pretty hard as the pain was excruciating and i couldn t walk on it for about 4 days afterwards. It got a bit better and was only a slight pain, but last night it started itching like mad (after 8 days) and this morning I woke up and it is still itching and is almost too painful to walk again! The whole foot is itchy and uncomfortable! It isn t possible to see anything on the area other than it s a bit red, but could it be infected?
Hi. As per your case history of fish sting, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
