Hello, I m an 18-year-old female, I m concerned because I have a very irritational itch and sting inside of my vagina. This has been going on for two or three consecutive days and it has only worsened; when I urinate it stings as well. Its been really bothering to the point where I m unable to sleep at night. In the past, I have experienced itching here and there but it was nothing extreme like now.
From the description of your symptoms, it is apparent that you are experiencing an infection in the vagina and possibly in the lower urinary tract. You need a proper clinical examination, urinalysis and swab tests of cervix and vagina. Further management can be planned accordingly.
Maintenance of proper genital hygiene, avoidance of tampons during menstrual periods and using undergarments that offer proper ventilation are useful in prevention of such infections.
If you are sexually active, please make sure that your partner is free of infections and use barrier protection. Maintain adequate hydration.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
