Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Knee Pain After Knee Replacement Surgery?
Hello, I had full knee replacement surgery Dec 1. I have a question about tapering off of Roxicodone. My Doctor (surgeon) said to go from 4 to 6 to 8 hours. I have made it up to 10 hours then start to experience a lot of pain. I believe I am taking 2.5 mg of Roxicodone every 10 hours. I have about a weeks worth left and would like to be finished completely. Any advice? Do I keep adding more time daily? I tried 14 hours yesterday and was really struggling. What can I do to deal with this as I need to go to work etc... Can you suggest a schedule at least until I see my Surgeon next week? Thank you

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
As per your explanation after knee surgery I suggest there should not be knee pain again till few years until you heart it again. But if it's painting you can talk to your doctor.. And physical therapist. Do use hot and cold pack at home frequently. And as per the medication I suggest it is not a good way to have this so do talk with your doctor on this again and take some simple pain killer with anti inflammatory. Here you have not explain any hurt to knee so I feel it's a temporary pain and will go away soon just follow knee press on bed or pillow exercise keeping knee straight on bed and do simple knee movement in chair. Do not fold extreme as well do not walk stand or climb stairs more and just take rest for two days. Hope this was useful for you. Take care.
