What Causes Severe Mid-back Pain After An Increased Dosage Of Gabapentin?

Yes, in the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing severe pain in my middle back whenever I stand for more than a few minutes, or when I walk any distance. I have also recently increased my dosage of gabapentin from 600 mg. at night to 600mg morning, afternnoon and night. I also take .088mg levothyroxine 1x daily and clonazempam.5mg at bedtime. Could the increased dosage of gabapentin be causing the back pain, or should I consult another doctor about it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A backache can be due to fibromyalgia, but it needs to be ruled out for dorsal spine disc lesion.

It can be the muscular spasm and that can be due to a spinal disc that might be compressing the nerve, spine imaging study is must, the backrest can be tried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
