What Causes Severe Neck Pain After A Physical Therapy?

I am in a physical therapy class for pain on my shoulders, recently after one session I have experienced pain in my neck. I thought it was a mild strain but it has continued now for 6 days. It began on the left side now it is at the base of my neck in the rear. I can t lift my head as the pain is there, I have taken pain killers (left over from an earlier diagnosis in my joints last year), it helps but I think that this is too long. Any suggestions?

Hello!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

First, considering your symptoms, I would recommend performing a cervical spine MRI to exclude any bulging disk. Regarding the pain, you should know that painkillers can not be used for a long time, as they may lead to several adverse effects. In this regard, I would recommend trying an muscle relaxant (Flexeril). You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Best regards!
