What Causes Severe Neck Pain Followed By Black Out And Fainting?

Hi, I was holding my neck/head in what seemed to be a strange way because my neck began to hurt and so I turned my head in the opposite direction of the pain. Then I began to feel really strange and I couldnt really see, then I passed out. My mom got me a little allert and then I passed out again, upon waking up I stayed allert this time and my mom took me to the er. They said that I probably pinched my carotid artery and just come back if it happens again. I was wondering how likely this is and if this happened will it hppen again and how can I stop it. I am a female who is 20 years old and im just concerned as to why this happend and if i should get further tests.
