What Causes Severe Pain And Burning Sensation On The Thighs?

Hi. I m worried about a problem with my right mid thigh. Last night I woke up in severe pain. It felt like being burned with hot needles, the area became numb but the pain continued. I was unable to stretch my leg out or lay on my right side. The symptoms died down a bit during the day hi the skin is overly sensitive in that area and hurts to even have clothing touch it. Tonight its gotten worse again. I ve put some ice on it which dulls the pain slightly but there is now itching along with the above mentioned symptoms. There is also what feels like a random saplings in the surrounding area.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to nerve compression at the lumbar spine level.

For further assessment, you may require MRI back, nerve conduction studies after consultation.

Till then you can take tablet acetaminophen. Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads will also help.

You may require tablet Pregabalin and multivitamin after consultation.

Do regular physical therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
