What Causes Severe Pain And Stiffness In The Body While Treating Kidney Failure?
I have been told I have gout in my hands but x ray show normal. But I am experiencing lots of pain and stiffness through out my body , hips (both) ,back, mussel cramps, now in my forearms aching in upper and lower legs. I was giving "methylpred" ("wedrol" 4mg ) and every thing went away! But I am also in kidney failure ( down to 45%) so can't use very often.I ma 70 - male-205 lb -5'9" i didn't think gout affected the WHOLE body - even my neck is stiff. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER SCAM!!!!!!!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your query. Normally functioning kidney filters away unwanted proteins from blood to be excreted out.In kidney failure... the proteins remain unfiltered & remains in blood. come together to form " Ameloid plaques' in body... get deposited in tissues like muscles, tendons, joints & change their shape to cause stress inside & result in pains. Methylpred is a steroid which reduces body response to swelling, inflammation, or allergic reaction .. That was how the unbearable symptoms were managed in your case. Thanks
