When I have an orgasm, I get a severe pain and have what feels almost like a fist pushing outward, just below my rib cage and slightly to the left of center. I have talked to my doctor, and she says that she has no idea of the cause or possible treatment. Any ideas?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Ideally pain during orgasm is caused due to infection (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea or PID), the pain you mention can be due to muscle spasm & hormonal changes. Some experience pain in the lower abdomen, during orgasm the pelvic muscles contract & pain may be felt due to spasm. You can take anti-inflammatory medication before intercourse & do regular pelvic floor exercises. Visit ER & see your gynae to screen out ovarian cysts, endometriosis or infection. Get screening tests for STD done. Avoid unprotected sex.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nupur K.
