Hello dear,
After going through your history, I believe you have some genuine concern and I will try to help you out of this situation.
For understanding your problem you have to first understand the anatomic relation of ear and nose and throat.
The space behind the ear drum (Middle ear) is connected to the behind of nose through a slender tube called as Eustachian tube. It drains the fluid from the middle ear to the nose and supplies air from the nose to the ear. Both of these processes are very much essential for proper hearing.
With every infection of throat/nose/sinus, the lining mucosa of the Eustachian tube gets swollen. This leads to blockage of the tube. So the usual function of
drainage of fluid and supply of air by the tube do not happen. This leads to deposition of fluid in the middle ear which presents like pain, heaviness in the ear and decrease in hearing. The fluid which accumulates can also perforate the drum and come out through the ear.
Our aim is to make the Eustachian tube work. In my clinic along with medications, I advise my patients to take warm water as much as one can instead of chilled water. Water must be taken in sips as when we swallow; the Eustachian tube opens and closes (WHICH LEADS TO YOUR PAIN DURING SWALLOWING). So we have to swallow again and again to make the tube work. This takes time to improve.
In your case, the
seasonal allergy to the hay dust leading to inflammation in the nose and sinus.
hence you should take the medications as advised, with that you should start a
nasal spray containing
FLUTICASONE FUROATE 2 puffs in each nose daily morning and Tablet Monteleucast 10 mg once in the night before this particular period of grass cutting till the season overs. This is to prevent allergy to the dust which in term leading to
sinusitis.
I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.
Thank you for the way you are in my life.
