My husband has had a bad back on and off since Christmas when he fell down the stone steps at home, he has been to see the doctor a month abo who has said it is a muscle problem, but this morning coming down the stairs he has pulled it and the pain shot down his leg and he nearly collapsed. He has quite a high pain threshold but he said this was 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. I wanted to take him to the hospital as it looked that serious but he is insiting that he is going to rest it and put ice on his lower back and in a couple of days go for some physio. Is there any strong painkillers or muscle relaxants that I can get for him over the counter that will help while he's resting as everytime he moves the pain shoots down his leg and he flinches.
