my son is a very fit cross county runner ( 20 y ears old) and has had severe lower leg pain for 5 days. He has a sever gluten intolerance. He has been training very hard and is has a history of a tib fib fracture when he was 5. the pain seems to be in the area of the previous fracture. An x ray reveals a cloudy area in his fibula and what appears to be a healed fracture in his tibia. We are concerned about the cloudy area. He has a ppt with an orthopedic in 2 days

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that your son got probably have stress fracture of fibula where a cloudy area is seen. Stress fracture occur due repeatative injury during training. Treatment of it is rest and stopping training for nearly 1 month. Analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief is useful. You can be better assessed after seeing x ray. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
