What Causes Severe Pain In The Ribs?

I have been having severe pain to my right rib and chest area. At times the pain radiates to my back. Shooting pains when I take deep breaths. Really bad shoulder pain. I recently flew and that seemed to exasperate the problem. I had a CT and an X-ray of my chest area. The test were inconclusive. The ER doctor said he say some fluid but it was not written on my report. They did, however; notice some metastases which I was aware. I m concerned that this may be pneumonia and they are missing it. things have been overlooked on more than one occasion. Do you have any input on where I should go from here. I m also concerned that it could be liver metastases. The pain can be debilitating at times and other times barely noticeable.
