Hi, I have been experiencing stabbing pain in my right ear. It is not all the time but when the pain comes it is 9-10 on a 1-10 pain scale. I was treated for a sinus infection and the flu about a month ago. Doctor said there was no infection despite the severe pain. It seems to be getting more frequent and has kept me awake at night. Thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pain in the right ear may be due to eustachian tube block or allergic reaction or middle ear infection etc. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Use tablet Sinarest twice a day for five days. If you're allergic or hypersensitive don't use this medication. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
