Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe pain in my upper arms. I ve had it for a while. I was thinking it was a strained muscle but not for sure. It feels like you slept on your arm ALL night. That kind of soreness. It has progressively gotten worse. I can t carry a book binder with that arm. It even hurts to rub it, like rubbing a sore muscle. Recently it even was so bad it felt like the muscle was in a bind and I couldn t raise my arm to straighten it out. By the way I am a healthy 65 year old woman.
Hi i do care for your concern. The pain caused by sleeping on arm usually gets alright within few days. you have mentioned your age, thanks to it, as in this age the bone mineral density gets lowered. the bones in your neck region might have undergone degenerative changes, and may compress a nerve that will cause severe pain. If i were your treating doctor, then i would advise To have pain killer such as diclo for three days along with antacids and to do mild muscle relaxing exercise. If pain persist then Its advisable to get X-ray done do follow up with orthopaedic doctor. Hope your condition gets well soon. If you have more doubts fee free to ask. thank you.
