What Causes Severe Redness And Inflammation On The Scalp?
Hello - my husband has a very irritating itchy head- especially the lower back just above the hairline. It is now very reddened & inflamed. He s been rinsing with an apple cider vinegar solution - daily after shampooing. This started last year & was cleared up using this treatment. We thought that it was possibly a yeast caused flare-up. This method is not working for him at this time. Haven t had a visit with the dermatologist yet. No openings until the end of the month. Can you recommend any other treatment - even on a temporary basis. YYYY@YYYY Thank You
Hi, thanks for choosing HCM, Red inflamed lesions which are slight itching at the level of hairline area may be due to ... 1) Psoriasis of the scalp. 2) fungal infection of Scalp. 3) Sebhorrhic dermatitis. However, let me give my opinion on this. Very red inflamed lesions with silvery scales commonly seen in Psoriasis of Scalp. 1) Use Salicylic acid with coal thar shampoo alternative days on scalp. 2) Tab Fluconazole 150 mg weekly once. 3).Tab Levocetrizine daily night times. See your local Dermatologist and confirm the diagnosis. Hope this answer will help you.
