What Causes Severe Stiomach Cramps And Excessive Bleeding During Periods?

It is the first day of my period, and when it first started last night I kept getting horrible pains in my lower stomach and gushing of blood that I could hear come out for a good 10 minutes, this happened about 3 times since it started. I have a tampon in now so I don't hear or feel the gushing, but my stomach is cramping really bad to the point where I can't stand straight up or move at all till it subsides. Should I be concerned and see my doctor or is it normal for you to loose that much blood at once and be in pain, slight head ache also which I always have during my period.

You really have my sympathy. Of course you should see your doctor and discuss treatment options. Menstruation should not decrease your quality of life. If everything is normal, there are oral contraceptive pills, a progestin IUD or if your family is complete, a same day surgery procedure, endometrial ablation, to thin the lining of the womb permanently. I wish you good luck and much less agony.
