What Causes Severe Stomach Cramps And Clear Discharge From Anus?

I had severe stomach cramps Sat. I made a bowel movement it was hard at first. I still had stomach cramps in 15-2 min. intervals. Then, I began to have a clear discharge from my anus with little specks of red. It happens after the stomach cramps. Its slimmy and doesn't have a smell. I'm a female. I still have the discharge, but the cramping is more on the left side of my lower abdomen. What is it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The cramp on the left side of your abdomen is due to colitis (inflammation/infection) of bowels. It seems like that you have been constipated explaining the difficulty in emptying your bowels. Mucus is due to inflammation of the colon and due to difficulty in emptying the bowels.

I advise taking lactulose to soften the stool and probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora. Increase fluids and fiber intake. If cramps are unbearable, then visit the gastroenterologist as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
