What Causes Severe Stomach Pain In Upper Part?

My father is having severe stomach pain in the upper part. He has had 2 endoscopies, his gall bladder removed, an mri and they can t find anything. When the pain is severe it lasts 1-2 minutes and comes about every 8-10 minutes. It only gets better if he does not eat at all. He has also had severe constipation.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your Father having severe stomach pain in the upper part, had 2 endoscopies, MRI reveal nothing, gall was removed in past, The pain is severe, lasts for 1-2 minutes and comes on every 8-10 minutes, gets ok if he does not eat at all. Also has severe constipation.
THe most probable cause can be gastritis or pancreatitis and needs ruling out the cardiac cause.

I would ask him the following:
Clinical evaluation by the Doctor and also to have the following investigations:
EKG, X-ray of the chest, ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
Tests of blood, urine and stool.
These will get him the diagnosis and a plan for further management.
Until then give him a PPI like Omeprazole, Antacid and see the results.
In chest there may be the cause like pleurisy or lower lung infection which can cause the similar problems.
I find this answer helpful
