What Causes Severe Tingling In Left Arm And Shoulder?

i was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden had severe tingling of my left arm that started around my left shoulder blade and went to the finger tips it wasn't just a normal numb feeling i've had before. it lasted for about 3 minutes now it is gone. Should i worry ? I am 45 years old & never really had any real health issues. My mother & grandmother had heart problems and it is just a concern of mine. I've also noticed some water retention the last few weeks, not sure any of this is related.
